Banana chocolate porridge is one of my favourite ways to brighten a dull morning! It has a rich chocolatey flavour but is as healthy as you would expect oatmeal to be. It’s a really satisfying dish so it’s a recipe I turn to when I’ve got a strong appetite – I know it will fill me up!
The banana adds sweetness so there’s no need to add extra sugar. If you don’t like the taste of dark chocolate, you could use less cocoa powder or use a hot chocolate mix instead.
Banana Chocolate Porridge
Serves 1. Preparation time 10 minutes. Approx 350 calories.
Half a cup of rolled oats
Half a cup of low/non-fat milk
Half a cup of water
One banana, mashed
One tablespoon of cocoa powder
Add all of the ingredients to a saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer.
Cook for around five minutes or until the liquid has been absorbed. Stir occasionally to ensure that the oats don’t stick.
Serve and enjoy!
You can add almond slivers or chopped walnuts to this for added yumminess.
Banana chocolate porridge is also great cold so why not make double?
